Every conference gives you the same thing - a free pen, a lanyard, way too much average coffee and cake, and a free notebook, usually with the conference logo on it.
And as someone who has been to a bucketload of conferences this year - I love watching a room during a great session, because everyone's got their head down, pen going, scribbling away like they're taking notes for an exam. Rows and rows of inspired humans, capturing the good stuff.
But here's the question I ask myself every time I'm the one on stage watching it happen - of everyone in that room filling their notebook, how many actually do something with it?
This episode was inspired by a closing keynote I ran in Brisbane last month, and if you've got a drawer, a bag, or a car boot full of free notebooks with a bunch of insights written in them, that are basically just expensive scrap paper - good intentions, zero follow-through - this one's for you.
I'm sharing the real reason people don't implement after a conference (and it's not the one you think), plus the exact process I use to actually turn what I learn into something that sticks.
