Ep 130: 5 Things I Say in Team Workshops That Your Boss Never Would

Season 3 · Ep 130

About this episode

A few years into running my own team workshops, I started noticing something...

After almost every session - without fail - a manager would come find me afterwards and say some version of the same thing: "I've been trying to say that to my team for two years, Candice. How did you just do that in twenty minutes?"

Here's the thing though. It's not that I'm smarter than them, or braver, or better with words. It's that I'm not their boss.

When your manager tells you your attitude needs work, it feels like a threat. When I say it in a room full of people who don't report to me, it feels like a nudge. Same words. Completely different impact.

So in this episode, I'm sharing the top 5 things I say in my team workshops that your boss is almost certainly thinking - but will probably never say out loud.

No hierarchy. No HR file. No awkward follow-up meeting. Just the truth, delivered by someone with absolutely nothing to lose by saying it straight.

Fair warning: at least one of these is going to land directly in your chest. That's not an accident. That's the one that's yours.

Tune in, get a little called out, and - as always - go shake things up.
